Prequel was cool, hehe, but couldn’t capture the intense creeping horror feel of the original, seein it for the 1st time. The actors, (Russel was the dude) acting, camera scenes n’ stillshots and the creepy suspenseful 80’s background horror synthesizer music and effects, (a lost art that will go to the grave with Carpenter) gelled and made it one of the best classic sci-fi, horror flicks of all time in my book. For instance: The scene, lights are out, creepy music lightly building, Fuches is fumbling with a Zippo in the doorway and a shadow whisks by him with instant scary sound effect… at that moment, in the theater, I don’t care how rugged you were, that scene loosened yer pee hole a lil’ bit.
You’re right there - just being reminded of that scene in text still sent shivers down my spine lol - I must have watched the 80’s one 10 times if not more and I’m feeling the itch again just from discussing it here, but now I’m gonna have to rewatch the prequel first, as up until this point I’d always assumed it was just a remake! I must have been too stoned to notice all the character names were different, doh! (picardfacepalm.jpg)
