Sonny Bono was actually amazing at managing both their careers. He single handedly launched both of their careers with just 2 songs he wrote, I Got You Babe & The Beat Goes On”, that made the top 10 billboard in 1965. He created a unique brand for both of them. But when this movie was released in 1969 it bombed so bad that both their careers were dead for a couple years. They were playing crappy little lounges in Vegas to survive when he developed their husband & wife music & comedy lounge act that launched them both into A-List superstardom in the 1970’s. Sonny was the boss and the driving force that created Cher’s career.

But his setback was doing this god awful movie and thinking he knew how to write, direct, and produce movies. He did not. The director who is credited for this film directed only 1 movie and this was it. He probably credited this guy as director for accounting reasons.

As far as their divorce goes, they were both cheating on each other and neither of them were committed to their marriage. But Sonny was an amazing entertainment manager for both of them.
