Murderbot (2025) S1 E7
savonius 15 points 5 months ago.

Yeah, I timed one of ‘em just out of curiosity:

Example: EP-06
video-length…25:48
intro/credits….04:26
outro/credits…01:01
show runtime..20:21

The inro/outro takes up 20% (1/5) of the runtime. Maddeningly short.

The only thing I dislike about this show is its short run time
Pther than that, everything is great. From characters, acting, humor, world building

Resident Alien (2021)
pryme 15 points 4 years ago.

A unique and very funny sci-fi comedy show. Might be too silly for some but I absolutely love it! Great writing and acting with many hilarious moments and situations. So glad to find such a good new show in 2021! As another member said, “truly refreshing” - I agree 100%! Let’s hope it gets renewed!

Having seen this, I’m now convinced that Leonardo DiCaprio can play anybody. Also, wow. What a scary film. It’s up there with Idiocracy and The Strain in terms of unflinching realism when it comes to how this machine called society works.

It’s got Alan Tudyk in it. What more do you need?

Well said, I find myself of the same opinion watching this in 2025, and also quite a few episodes that focus on alien species having multiple genders, stuff that wouldn’t really fly now adays and would be picked apart as agenda propaganda was just…. science fiction back then lmao.

It’s a bit sad how we have used near instant global communication to become more narrow minded

Lisztomania (1976)

Like his bio on Mahler, Ken Russell presents a bio on Liszt with Beatles’ Ringo Starr, Rocky Horror’s Nell Campbell, Who’s Roger Daltrey & Fiona Lewis. Centered around his pursuit of pleasure, it’s a bio only Russell could’ve done.

I read the synopsis and thought another spoof show that will suck..I couldn’t be more WRONG. First few min I thought Lasso was an idiot but he is brilliant. Can’t stop watching this show. Like every other review in this discussion has said it is actually a great show.

I have just learned that the Galaxy class ships seen on this show weren’t capable of atmospheric landing like the Interpid class ship seen on Voyager, will have to see if this lore holds true going forward.

So far so good, enjoying most of the cast and the story so far, all be it not much of one yet I know, looking forward to seeing the arcs that come about in this series. I really enjoyed DS9 so fingers crossed this holds a candle.

PZitsEZ 14 points 4 months ago.

My opinion. This show was excellent when it came out. Before DVR or Tevo or any of that. So you actually had to be at your TV when the show aired. And I was. If you make it to the end, and I strongly suggest that you do, you will find the series was tied with a bow. A perfect ending. To a seven year season. Doesn’t happen very often. Enjoy!

Star Trek: Voyager (1995) S4 E3
Twixtid 14 points 3 months ago*.

I was NOT expecting 7 of 9 to be so attractive, like holy smokes, but it kinda plays into her whole persona of being the “perfect life form”. At least thats what I understand Borg to be about, assimilate any and all cultures or species that rival their own to improve upon their own kind. I’m really hoping for an all out conflict with the Borg, if not, I may have to find out if there are any Star Trek arcs that do. I have genuine compassion for Seven’s situation, the isolation and confusion she tries to conquer as Voyager attempts to assimilate HER into their crew.

Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Twixtid 7 points 2 months ago.

I’ll do that, TNG after Voyager and I will look up online how to fit the movies in chronologically, does TOS kinda stand on it’s own?

ct451 14 points 2 months ago.

It would be weird if it didn’t since it was the only one at the time. You can’t be a trekkie without watching the original.

After TNG watch the “First Contact” film at least. The Borg story arc is one of the better ones if not the best in all of trek.

To have to believe that some invisible, fairytale, Greek-mythical chimera created everything around you, rather than having the intellect and imagination to understand all of the awe-inspiring natural elements that we have discovered that FACTUALLY came together to form everything in our universe and beyond….that is sad.

Ever met a young girl who told you her dream when she grows up is to have sex with ugly men older than her father for money? Does that help you understand the “general attitude of disgust”?

Ever met Any young person who told you that their dream was to work some back breaking and/or dead-end job for low wages for people who do not appreciate it?
I was talking about prostitution as a legal profession and not about the untold multitudes that are enslaved and are forced to do this.

I sort of miss those days when you only had 3 channels, not counting PBS because it had nothing good on it at that time, and you could watch one show in the season and another show on another channel in reruns in the summer…all without having to pay for it.

In defense of PBS, they had the Doctor Who marathons. Mostly the Tom Baker seasons too.

I like, it got my science fiction noodle going. It’s quite original, there seems to be baddies and goodies on both sides - I think I have figured out a couple of the plot items that haven’t been revealed yet, I will not spoil… I am hoping for me to be wrong about these and for the plot to take a few twists - roll on next week…

Hawkeye (2021) S1 E5
danny 14 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

By far my favourite Marvel TV show yet, I love how it all expands upon what’s happened in the past story wise and introduces new characters to the Marvel Universe to further expand upon.
Wandavision we got Billy & Tommy aka Wiccan & Speed, Monica Rambeau aka Photon, White Vision and Agatha Harkness.
Falcon & Winter Soldier we got John Walker aka U.S Agent, Joaquín Torres aka Falcon, Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Elijah Bradley aka Patriot and his father Isaiah, and the Sharon Carter aka Power Broker.
In Loki we got Sylvie aka Lady Loki, Alioth, all the Loki variants, Mobius and the TVA, and most of all the next Marvel villain, He Who Remains aka Kang the Conqueror.
And now in Hawkeye we’ve got Kate Bishop aka Hawkeye, Maya Lopez aka Echo, Yelena Belova aka Black Widow, Jack Duquesne aka Swordsman and possibly now Madame Masque aka Eleanor Bishop and the Kingpin.
I love Marvel, please forgive my nerd out moment lol

This is what happens when you decimate an education system. After we solve viruses and climate change, we will still be left with stupid.

(⌐■_■) 14 points 4 years ago*.

Absolutely, our educational system needs to get in gear. Just think in a decade what our workforce ‘could be’ if we leaned heavily into education, job training, forest and infrastructure development/mgmt, etc. Make options available for people to respond and help themselves and each other out of this mess.

the whole world is still irradiated. couple this doc with https://www.primewire.tf/movie/1490805-the-conqueror-hollywood-fallout and perhaps https://www.primewire.tf/movie/1510773-revealed-how-to-poison-a-planet .. animation by bill plympton

random000 20 points 5 months ago*.

While Plympton’s animation is appreciated since it’s a display of his agreement with the presentation, the small number of people who have the power to perpetrate these atrocities against our biosphere & those within it are not stupid.

These actions are not mistakes. There is a concerted effort on many fronts using many methods to adulterate & corrupt the biosphere & therefor those whose existence depends on its health.

Shifting gears to another thought; The efforts to go off-planet to Mars or anywhere else cannot be supported since those efforts are not beneficial to those left on Earth to marinate in a destroyed biosphere. Those efforts only benefit but a few & the resources used are stolen & used without full knowledge & consent of those whom those resources are diverted from.

These two different topics can juxtapose & conclusions may be drawn as they will.
