I read someone’s review elsewhere saying this had a bit of the same vibe as “Law Abiding Citizen” - which also then reminded me of another demonic one, “The Devil’s Advocate.” Smooth, seductive evil that susses out weaknesses and inexorably worms its way in.
“Nefarious” somehow (well, due to that riveting acting!) manages to quickly ensnare you even though almost all of the movie is dialogue between just two characters. Sure, some scenes can drag a bit, but even THAT works, as we have to sit there and digest all the evil being thrown at the hapless doctor, and at us. One of the most difficult things in the world to deal with is having to re-assess all that you think you knew. That’s both humbling and more than a little unsettling.
