Flawed but not bad. Would’ve recast it, but hey, ain’t in that club. The bit where Bening says punk died when the z-grade Bonzo actor hijacked the country is however untrue. The beginning of punk fizzled then, but when the 80s arrived- at that moment punk became Punk & exploded in reaction to that- becoming bigger than ever & has expanded since. However her line that one doesn’t need to read a book to know one’s self gives clarity to the arc of the film. Good Jimmy Carter quote is that The path of fragmentation & self-interest is the route to failure.
The soundtrack divides from art rock & early punk to Big Band Swing. Ah, the days of mimeographed flyers. Beats digital to hell.
