Right on. Love them in this, but you’re right. It’s hard to watch. The old way of making films was great, but also dismal in the area that you point out.
It’s meant to be dismal. That’s the story overall. Hopelessness, unrequited, no safety, nothing to hold onto and the discarding of anything perceived to be useless or old. A hard watch, that maybe more people should see. Then again, who knows if those who discard and weigh in on only what is “picture perfect” would have any capacity to understand at all. Thanks for the recommendation on My Favourite Wife and Something’s Gotta Give.
