What? No, DDL did NOT look, or even closely resemble Lincoln. Lincoln was called โuglyโ in many, many written accountings, and DDL did not appear ugly at all. However, DDL is an excellent actor (or was, as he is formally retired). Further, how do you know what his accent would have been? Accents in the US are quite diverse and regional, not generic at all. If you read historically accurate documents they all agree, he was a healthy middle-aged man with warts on his face, thin and ugly and a blueish colouring. Whatever that means, is subjective, therefore an adaptation is not based on anything that was recorded by video or voice, but by written OPINION only. Further, there is only โspeculationโ that he had a form of mercury poisoning (he took mercury tablets) which coloured his countenance, but did not make him frail or elderly (he was assassinated at 56, in good health).
