I’d never heard of the bully Flashman or the book or stories. After the tiny bit of research and reading I just did, I am really amazed that it is fiction that introduced you to Harriet. I find that fascinating, since Flash is a fictional character, but who cares because it made you curious about a real and very courageous person.
flashy is fictional, sure .. but he meets EVERY interesting person of the 1800s planewide, or so it seems, and they are held to a very high standard of historical accuracy .. try one of the books .. youll see
I think Harriet spotted immediately that Flashy was a “wrong un”, even tho he was in the service of the underground railroad at the time .. Most people of great ethical and moral fortitude despise Flashy immediately :)
