Please note when watching this film it does not accurately depict the life of Harriet Tubman - the actress who is playing her has made countless disparaging remarks about the people whose ancestors were slaves (her own ancestry has been called into question as she is from a cast of people who were in fact black slavers that sold captured people into slavery to non-black slavers)
The White Plantation owner who saves her in the film is a work of fiction as is the black slave bounty hunter who was attempting to kill her.
This film spits on the truth that is a wonderful woman who free’d countless men, women and children.

as to the actresses ancestry .. must every actor who plays a roman be a roman? must every nazi actor be descended from actual nazis? must actors who play dracula be actual vampires? superheroes? doctors? aliens? murderers? billionaires?

i thot it was pretty cool, but no one expects perfect historical fidelity .. never happens .. and without a time machine, theres no way to be perfectly certain of the facts anyway .. we trust our primary sources as much as we have any, and hope they dont contradict each other too much :)
