The companies in Avatar are powerful enough to equal governments (like some companies now) but that doesn’t mean it’s communist, still? The government didn’t seize private businesses, in fact the opposite - government services like infrastructure and healthcare were privatized.
If the company owns the means of production and then becomes the government it is no different than if government takes the means of production. The end result is the same… a communist government.
