I’m on episode three, and I honestly don’t understand the hype. Apart from Stephen Graham who’s always great, there’s nothing spectacular about this TV series. Maybe episode four will make up for it, but I doubt it.
From what I’ve read, this is more about style (single shot, no takes or split scenes) over substance. However, I found the substance utterly depressing. I think the actors all did splendid jobs, it just isn’t riveting as much as it is utter chaos. It’s not spectacular and it is not at all original, aside from the style, which has also been done before, just not a lot. It must have been exhausting for the two leads.
