pretty much a formula these days…cop shows have become predictable as has most “new programming” these day’s…dept director, devious second in command, the mentally and morally bankrupt and deranged “Sarge” who’s divorced, and angry at everyone and everything, has a death wish due to some tragedy, and who should’ve been fired and sectioned long ago…the rookie who’s constantly screwing things up, yet always comes through, your walking talking encyclopedic technician…then there’s the wise guy with an attitude, and the female lead that combines all of these traits into one conflicted character
