No, the author only says they “aren’t convinced” the numbers are correct - and the author was quoting Naveed Sheikh, a professor of Middle East Studies at Keele University and editor-in-Chief of the international peer-reviewed journal Politics, Religion & Ideology. He has researched and studied, objectively, far more about political/religious violence than the author of the essay.
