Correct me if I’m wrong but Brandon’s death was also completely preventable and lead to reforms in gun handling because of the negligence case against the films producers right? They for some reason loaded a real, live firing gun with metal casings for a shot instead of a prop or even disabled gun, then as a result of that completely unnecessary negligence there was a gun malfunction later.

Brandons’ death was even crazier than that. The pawn shop scene was filmed at an actual pawn shop, so everything in there was authentic, including the ammunition. When the armorer found out he was furious and closed down the set, collected the live rounds, and took them to his trunk. About a week goes by and the armorer removes the live cartridges and powder from the pawn shop ammo leaving just the casing with the unused primers so he could use them for close up shots of the gun. They shot the scenes using the pawn shop ammo with dummy cartridges, not realizing a primer still has enough force to eject the dummy round, which it did and lodged it in the barrel. Like another week goes by according to the detective that investigated, and the armorer loads a blank round into the gun, without checking the barrel, hands it to the actor and bang. The blank fires the obstruction right out of the barrel and into poor Brandon’s heart. Talk about a bullet having your name on it. There’s a fantastic documentary about the whole thing but I’m blanking on the name.
