And the other leading star, Haing S. Ngor, went through the killing fields in real life in Cambodia, came to America, became an actor, won an Oscar for this film and then gets killed in a robbery in LA in 1996.
And Spalding Gray, who played the US Consul, committed suicide in 2004.
