Wow, so overdue. Straight up comedy legends.
They are interviewed separately. In these interviews, they talk about themselves from childhood up to the time they meet. They go into what formed them as people & so on.
Then like in the early movies are driving down the road in a car talking to each other, going over their career together, which includes the bickering that lead to their split in 85 after Tommy refused to take a bit part in the Born In East LA vid.
While they talk, sometimes clips from their flicks are shown, as well as non-movie stuff such as their pioneering stand-up act. Sometimes people from their lives show up in the back seat of the car to offer their own commentary. That includes Tommy’s 1st wife of 10 years Maxine, the mom of Rae Dawn & Robbie Chong, who was neighbors with Shelby during their love triangle.
It’s a good way to go out. Tommy is about 90 years old, close to my dad’s age. Even his beautiful wife Shelby is close to 80. It’s time their lives were covered from their own perspectives while they are still with us, and not after the fact by someone else.
