The Go-Go's (2021)

Loved them. They came out of punk about the same time The Runaways dissolved. The Go-Gos removed themselves from punk, but had a good surf-guitar influence. Girlschool was another band that was rising at the same time, but were harder, often playing with Motorhead. The loss of my Go-Gos records is something I’m still miffed about, ha.

I went to WHT high school, and was in school with Jane Wiedlin’s brother Jay (same year as me), and Jane (2 years ahead of us). That school also had Lisa Kudrow in my same class. It’s funny how people portray her. She was not at all nice back then and came from a very wealthy family. Jane, on the other hand, was quite laid back and easy to chat with. I was totally punk with a flower child vibe. I cannot say I knew her well at all, but she was very nice and played in a small band that was at parties at times. It’s weird, being in California (I live in Europe now for a very long time), all sorts of rich, privileged kids were at my high school. It was pretty over-run with undeserved privilege, even then. 16 year-olds getting brand new Porsche’s and BMW’s. The disparity of the classes was enormous. Kim Bassinger used to drive her convertible Corvette to pick up her step-daughter (Ron Snyder’s daughter) who was in my art class and I sat with. Anyhow, just a bit of trivia. I got free tickets to the Go-Go’s at the Hollywood Paladium thanks to dating Jay, later on. lol
