The one thing about this show that blew me away in the first two seasons was the amount of makeup and effects that went into JUST the background extraโs when people were in the general public talking or drinking or what have you on Babylon 5, for example Londo and Vir were talking together at a bar and behind him was this full blown alien, and his or her only role, was take a sip of a drink beside Londo in a 6 second shot, in a $6,000 dollar costume.
Oh, yeah, they went full stones out on this, spared no expense. Was supposed to be a literal โ5 year missionโ๐คฃ, and they took it really seriously, and they wanted to make it as realistic as possible. Babylon 5 was supposed to be a place where all kinds of alien beings mingled all the time, and diplomatic missions happened every day, was a hub for that, and they showed it in every episode, and they spared no expense in what you saw all around the place. People would actually go out of their way to look for things, see what they could spot, as I recall, there were sites devoted to that.
