FillipW : hilarious
Despite the harrowing, progressively unfolding melodramatic aspect, it is such an audio-visual feast on the human psyche I must say. If I had not just watched it, I would never have imagined that (although I definitely adore the genre) French impressionist music (Debussy, Ravel, Satie, etc.) could be so befitting for such a movie. Music when coupled with sound editing reminded me of Microcosmos (1996) at many points (damn that snail porn accompanied by that beautiful soprano and the orchestra). This movie “tells” us that despite our ever-growing neocortex, many aspects of the human genome are indeed beyond language and are quite interchangeable with those of different human cultures in different timelines. This girl, Sewwandi, deserves recognition and an award for this.
★★★★★ That is as complete & succinct a review as there ever was. Precisely how we felt about it. Well articulated.
