I always thought the ending was meant to heavily imply Tony’s dead and his story is over without directly stating it.
It implies too many things at once. Maybe something happened, maybe it didn’t. I think the show deserved better, that’s all.
I mean, I get vague endings, but those endings still lead towards a certain logical direction. Here, it’s all over the place. Too many options on what might have been.
