yeah i get you, i guess with was having the scan and waiting for the fmri results for all the things, how accurate that is for diagnosis i have no idea. i am not so knowledgeable of the neuroscience of autism, but i did like when the term neurodivergent came out many moons ago, and you could compare brain imagery and see how alike or different brain activity can be, and i guess there would have been a majority cluster of brains that functioned similarly to be called neurotypical. i feel it is limiting though, and the term neurodivergent has changed as it became more popular. and to me its not a spectrum either, for example, some people (usually left handed people) have their left brain as their right brain, it not something you can put on the one spectrum.
That’s why they call it a spectrum. There all different levels.
Neurodivergent is a term to destigmatize. Just means you’re different, and many of us are. I’ve personally known diagnosed sociopaths, autistics and a few real narcissists. Once you’re familiar, you start seeing the patterns. But it’s just a description, not a destination. That label doesn’t mean a person doesn’t have a personality. By the way, many sociopaths are very charismatic, but they will step over your dead body to get a sandwich. And some autistics can me sensitive, especially to animals.
