I am so happy this is back. Genealogy is a cornerstone to understanding and appreciating your place in this world, anchoring you to the life experiences of those who came before you. Those that, through trial and tribulation, consolation and success, created your existence. I don’t know a person who hasn’t had something about themselves validated through researching their ancestors and origins. I eat these shows up!

As do I. I’ve been researching my parents ancestry and history for about 30 years now. I still jump for joy when I find some special piece of information. I found a long lost relative once, who people had been looking for forever. He had married a Cherokee woman, which his aristocratic English family would not have been happy about, and changed his last name from Wilkinson to Wilkerson. I found a whole branch of our Cherokee family in another state. I wish that was my line, but alas, all I have to claim is a Cornish pirate!
