I wish I’d seen this movie at a younger age, the premise wouldn’t bother me so much. If you see what happens when children are given up for adoption and reunited with half siblings at a later age, it’s very complicated and mixed emotional reactions. Here, the parents did it out of spite for the other, I couldn’t get past that (child services would seize the kids). I guess the movie works as long as you don’t see anyone involved as a real person, just “movie people”. I’ve read there is a remake with Lindsay Lohan that does address some of the emotional issues, maybe it’s better.
