This was excellent. I’ve seen the original by Kurosawa & it’s definitely different from that version but still great in its own right. It’s been updated to modernize it for today’s times of course & some of the plot was changed but I thought it was for the better. The stellar cast is all great w/Denzel leading & Jeffrey Wright (who I almost didn’t recognize at first) as his right hand man. I recommend seeing Kurosawa’s black & white original from ‘63 called High & Low too. It’s definitely a slow burn in comparison to this but still quite mesmerizing in the performances.
