It’s nothing beyond what you’d expect from a big budget creature feature. Typical low stakes bs, everyone the film wants you to emotionally invest in has full immunity no matter what perilous situation they find themselves in. There was no actual villain this time, it’s more a case of who the film thinks deserves to be killed off. I feel like the last four movies were designed for kids, and the film only speaks to the child audience but nothing to say to the adults in the room. You CAN make a movie with relatively scary or dark themes, kids do understand these things, not everything has to be light and friendly. You don’t need to place the good group into an immunity bubble, just so the audience can distinguish right from wrong. But I guess a lot these writing rooms think the audience are stupid. Ehh 3/10
