Kind of a really weird episode, felt like something ripped from the MCU. It seemed like they were trying to make all of the separate episodes have an overall arc, but that’s not really necessary in Star Trek imo. We like the adventures and the problem-solving, it’s supposed to be random because they are exploring space. Wasn’t all bad, the final story just didn’t really land for me, but I’m overall sad to see SNW end. Hope they do the Kirk spinoff, I believe the crew want to do it but trying to get Paramount to approve.
Agree that the recent series have lost that episodic nature that made them so enjoyable and a show that people can just watch any random episode from any series and not need to remember a bunch of backstory. Yes there was a ‘kinda’ overarching story that was touched upon more or less in each series e.g Voyage being a trip home, DS:9 with the Dominion, Enterprise being about the first ship/crew, but it wasn’t used as a tool to detract from the actual sci fi brilliance.
