I say cancel this now, and bring back The Good Fight the way it was in its better later seasons (i.e.: without Maia), using Elsbeth as a main character in her original, non caricaturized form.
They could just change it to something like she leaves the PD to open her own practice as a defense attorney, and the PD sends her cases for people that are guilty, but they have super high-priced lawyers so they might get off.
