I second that! Emma Thompson seems to be drawn to the unconventional story and character; and she always makes it more than it was on the page.
I avoid tossing around the word ‘brave’, so I’ll just say she was “bold” and completely vulnerable at the same time.
PS - That onscreen finish was one of the most realistic, face flushing things I’ve ever seen.
PPS - “Stranger Than Fiction” also has one of my favorite offbeat Thompson characters.
