No logic in killing the shop kid for asking around. I hate it when they introduce plot holes just to make story. I hate them (plot holes)even when the make them to try to solve a scewed one(story).
Not a plot hole, kid got overheard by the wrong person talking about that gold tat, and was killed on account of it. You will fins out what was behind all of it in a couple more episodes.
