This truly isn’t a fast-paced movie and, although it’s a unique and intriguing story and the acting was fine for the most part, I found I was unable to relate to the few characters involved as I was too busy questioning the inconsistency of the characters’ actions and reasoning as the film progressed.
Whilst it does have a sense of tension throughout and the occasional fleeting moments of creepy horror that may well send a shiver or two down your spine, the tension is almost entirely non-horror, family-related and the few very short-lived moments of ‘horror’ really only come across as reminders that in fact, this is a horror film and not a drama. Other than that, there’s really not much else as there’s not a lot of special effects and the ending left me a little disappointed with unanswered questions and a strong sense they ran out of budget, as a better ending would have made everything before it worth the time spent.
