Psycho IV: The Beginning (1990)

the Psycho series are NOTORIOUSLY BAD and i even think the first one though in many ways a cinematic masterpiece hasn’t aged well either but by far its the best of the series. that said! I have to go out on a limb and say this is the second best of the series. I think it does a good job of explaining why norman became the way he is and what i liked most about this and talk about being ahead of its time. for all the stigma mental illness gets in movies often used as a cheap/exploitative trope and often giving those who struggle no redemption and teaching people that only way to be safe in a world with people who struggle with mental illness if for them to die I’m surprised norman ends up getting redemption and is taught no your “gene” won’t get passed down not if you raise your child with love and what not. now its not entirely perfect but for people who have compassion with those with mental illness that means a lot especially coming from a cheap horror/b-movie like this, that said if your expecting narrative consistency you’ve been warned but interesting if its halloween season to watch this from the first one to this one but this is the second best out of a bad series haha! all my best!
