The fact that the main character was invented for this series and never referenced in other treks is part of the biggest problem. Without giving spoilers away Burnham’s background DEMANDS some kind of previous reference to legitimize it. Instead she’s just thrown in and given a backstory tied to TOS, TNG, DS9 that for some reason (abysmal writing, no respect for fans, woke agenda) is never acknowledged by any of the other series. You also have the equivalent of technology from the year 2400 being used in like 1950 - an exaggeration, but only a slight one. Disco also plagiarized the concept of the mycelium warp drive from a video game. The only way this series would be even close to “good, modern sci-fi” is if you completely removed the Star Trek name from it.
