The synopsis of this film does not at all do the article justice in its description. This film is a living song of obsession, sexual desire motivated by deep psychological influences, societal expectations, and extreme impulsivity. The acting on behalf of the entire cast, but especially by Jeremy Irons and Juliette Binoche is captivating and unparalleled in any other film. There are times without any dialogue that asks the viewer to join the actors in completely loosing themselves to the urges without question. Easily one of the best films ever made. It is highly underrated and underappreciated.
