It’s not because of age issues that the law sees the situation as a problem , it’s the fact that she’s a teacher , and the law sees that situation as an adult using their position of power and influence over a person under 18 in their care as exploitation regardless of consent. Very simply, teachers can’t legally bang students.

I totally agree (which was in my reply) but the movie did a terrible job illustrating the relationship they had. It wasn’t a prey-predator situation but two consenting adults overall who both had feelings for each other after the fact but couldn’t be together bc of her probation. In real life, they would have still seen each other despite her probation and had a child by then.
