Fuqua is a great director, the cast is good, the concept is cool, but the product is unfortunately lesser than it’s parts. They do so little with the idea of the infinites, it’s actually a huge shame, it’s just used as a framing device for a fairly mediocre action film even though there are so many interesting things you could do with it. Feels like it would actually make a better series, could spend more time exploring the consequences of remembering all your past lives and the toll that could take on you. Probably should have had more of an espionage element too, they’re kind of like the illuminati after all, working behind the scenes for thousands of years for the betterment or detriment of mankind. Instead the action takes the form of the more traditional, lets say, bombastic blockbuster action, jumping out of planes, car chases, whatnot. All that’s great when done well, but I don’t think it really fits here. I can forgive a mediocre action movie, but a squandered premise is a loss keenly felt.
