If the writers are true to form, they would indeed cast these characters as younger. You have to be between the ages of 18 and 26 to enter military service, so even if you went the full 20 years, you’d be no older than 46 at retirement, even if you came in at 26.
I don’t think they’re dissing the middle aged here, the military is a majority-young service, even if you’re a witch.
You’re really critiquing the lack a realism in a show where all people identified as witches are drafted into a Witch Army. smh
