I don’t know how I feel about that. Yes it’s good to see people of color in roles, however, back in the 19th century the few black people in Britain would have been servants.
But since this is a work of fiction they can do whatever they want. It’s a fantasy world
Just like all the sex and openness, that didn’t happen.
I couldn’t watch it after one episode. I guess I’m used to the traditional 19th British costume dramas

Hello Mike, Blacks in the 19th century weren’t limited to servanthood. Ira Aldridge (Actor) managed Coventry Theatre (1828).
