Based on the best-selling book series, this show revolved around the lives of the Wakefield twins and their friends. Although they are absolutely identical, they have totally different personalities; Liz is everyone's best friend while Jessica is manipulative and devious. The show started out very drama-like, there was little comedic relief and dealt with serious, if not somber issues. As it progressed it took on a more lighthearted, comedic position. Although there were cast changes every season, a few stayed for all four years, including Brittany and Cynthia Daniel who played the Wakefield twins. Not only was the theme song an original song created just for the show, but the songs used throughout the episodes were too. A soundtrack was released in 1995 featuring the songs from the series.

Mr. Rappaport (Lane Smith), a Ted Turnerish cable mogul, spots Bobby on "Where Are They Now" and immediately tabs him as the new co-anchor.

Marty, Hannah and Jules still worked at the magazine but other characters were replaced. A hip new editor was brought in and played to the hilt by performance artist Ann Magnuson. Holly Fulger was added to give Hannah a best friend to confide her thoughts about Marty with. One of the running bits between Hannah and Robin was that they called each other Mrs.

Now they plan a new invasion of Earth, using their ability to merge with human bodies and take control of them. However, they have to continue exposing themselves to radiation to destroy new bacteria as it enters their bodies.

Edison, of course, winds up on the wrong side of some very bad men who try their best to have him killed. An attempt to find out what he knows by reading his brain with a computer inadvertently creates a stuttering, manic computer simulation of Edison that calls itself Max.

The series depicted Logan and Jessica-pursued by Francis traveling in a futuristic hovercraft-like vehicle on a cross-country trek to Sanctuary in a post-apocalyptic America. The domed city was seen only in the pilot and two other episodes, using recycled footage from the film. In a change from the book and film, the television series had the city run by a cabal of elderly citizens; Francis has been promised a life beyond thirty as a city elder if he can bring back the fugitives. Logan and Jessica were joined on their journey by an android named Rem.

Edith put up with Archie and had qualities about her that made her one of television's most unforgetable characters. Also living in the Bunker household were Archie and Edith's daughter, Gloria, and her husband Mike, or "Meathead".

The governor offers them a pardon: IF they can prove they can stay on the straight and narrow for an undetermined period of time. Taking the names Smith and Jones, Hannibal and Kid try to stay honest so that they can get their pardon. But a lot of people know them from the bad ole days, and trouble seems to find them no matter where they go.

Episodes featured different characters, stories, and locations. The show often featured the same actors playing different characters in many episodes. Charles Fox's delicate yet hip music score, featuring flutes, harp, and flugelhorn set to a contemporary pop beat, provided the "love" ambiance which tied the stories together as a multifaceted romantic comedy each week.
