After a 1969 marijuana arrest, Erickson entered an insanity plea and was sent to the Rusk State Hospital, a medieval institution deep in the east Texas pineforests. He remained there for three years with the state's most violent mentally ill offenders, then reemerged a changed man: He sang about ghouls, zombies, and Satan, christened himself "the evil one," and declared himself an alien. At some point he stopped recording altogether and disappeared: "the great lost vocalist of rock and roll." For the past 12 years, Erickson has lived as a total recluse, shut in with his white noise and watching cartoons all day. He collects junk-mail by the stack. He only opens the door for his mother, Evelyn. Evelyn spends her days in their crumbling family home, abandoned by her other four sons and husband, doing yoga and reimagining her life through homemade films and "storyboards"--large planks of cardboard onto which she's pasted family photos and written out the story of their lives, "to convince myself that I'd been a good mother." Through them, she slowly charts the disintegration of their family. Her youngest son Sumner, the only family member to have escaped, has not returned home in ten years. He hears of his brother's situation and vows to persuade his mother to cede control of Roky in a "crusade to give his brother his life and music back." Upon his arrival, Roky and Evelyn's insular world slowly unravels.

In this fictional-story short (which takes Self listings out of the equation), George Stoll(as Georgie Stoll) and his hot-swing orchestra, and the band's singer, Virginia Dale, appearing in this short under her real name, Virginia Paxton, are in a radio station building hoping to get an audition. Recognizing the president of a broadcasting company,Royal C. Cummings (Maurice Cass), as he enters the elevator, Stoll and band members, with their instruments, enter it with him. THey toss out the operator and proceed to audition for the outraged Cummins , while making many up-and-down trips on the elevator. Once off the elevator he summons the police who promptly arrive and promptly arrest the studio band. Georgie Stoll (as he was most frequently billed) and his band get the gig, and a contract. The singing of Virginia Dale nee Virginia Paxton didn't hurt their chances any at all.

Directed by the award-winning director Sami Saif, THE ALLINS is a loving and entertaining look at the family of the departed rock singer. Twenty years on from his all too premature passing in 1993, we meet GG's mother Arleta and brother Merle, each of whom in their own personal way has tried to come to terms with GG's death. Arleta tackles her grief by having her son's gravestone removed from the cemetery in New Hampshire. She is tired of watching his fans pay tribute to GG by vandalizing his grave. That is not the son she wants to remember. She wants to remember GG, the man - a loving son and brother. Brother Merle, on the other hand, keeps himself and the myth about the world's most destructive rock'n roll musician going by selling merchandise and by breathing life into their old joint band, Murder Junkies. As the family story unfolds - from an impoverished childhood ruled by a tyrannical, brutal father to an adult life marked by a complete lack of boundaries, which in GG's case ended in drugs, violence and prison - Arleta and Merle try to find themselves and their common past.

Nine o'clock on Monday morning, August 18, 1969: while the work force was starting the day, Jimi Hendrix was taking the stage at Woodstock. While hundreds of thousands had already left, 25,000 people remained to see this incredible performance. Hendrix, along with drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox, offered masterly renditions of the songs of the recently disbanded Experience ("Hey Joe," "Foxey Lady"), and gave a preview of the blues-based Band of Gypsys ("Izabella," "Hear My Train A Comin'"), as well as Jimi's era-defining rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner." Though the weekend had witnessed some landmark performances by other great artists, this performance from Hendrix is regarded by many as the defining moment in a festival ripe with defining moments.
