Foo Fighters: Hyde Park
( 2006 )
Recorded at Hyde Park in London, June 17th 2006, this 76 minute performance sees the Foo Fighters rock through some of their most popular material in front of a massive crowd, quoted in some media as nearly 100,000 people. At the time of this show, the band were touring in support of their excellent double album, In Your Honor. There have been a number of different members come and go in this band, however their current line-up has been the most stable. The musicians performing here include: Dave Grohl (vocals, guitar) Nate Mendel (bass) Taylor Hawkins (drums, vocals on Tie Your Mother Down) Chris Shiflett (guitar) There are a number of highlights that make this show worth seeing. After a blistering performance of Breakout, Dave welcomes Lemmy Kilmister (Motorhead) on stage for a rendition of Shake Your Blood, a song on which they collaborated for Dave's Probot project. It is fantastic to see the song performed live, almost as much as it is to see the glee on Dave's face as he shares the stage with his hero. Later, Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen join the lads for a run through Tie Your Mother Down, featuring Taylor Hawkins on vocals.

Movie:
Jack Dee: Live in London
( 1999 )
Filmed at London's Gielgud Theatre at the culmination of his 1998 tour, Jack Dee Live and Uncut puts the UK's favourite "whinger" in his element-on a stage performing stand-up comedy. Dee has presence in his orange shirt and tailored blue suit, but although he's derogatory about himself-he's a stay-at-home man, he's short, he's fat-he's also unapologetic. Dee isn't afraid to throw harsh words at his audience or swear like the proverbial navvy along with an onslaught of observational humour. He doesn't go in for surrealism, one-liners or complex structural payoffs. He prefers to tackle one subject at a time, explore it, then move on. His themes are universal rather than original but he usually brings a fresh perspective. Take builders - he puts himself at the centre of their Neanderthal attentions rather than women.

Margaret Cho: Beautiful
( 2009 )
Learning to love her luscious self over the past forty years, comedian Margaret Cho realized that the eye of the beholder doesn't hold all the power when it comes to beauty. Our tastes may be groomed by the media, but how we feel about how we look brings our self-image into focus. Armed with something more potent than lip gloss - a mouth so shocking and raunchy it should be stamped with a warning - Cho toured America with her manifesto: "This show is really about how we should feel beautiful," says Cho. "When you feel beautiful, you're going to have more of a willingness to use your voice to speak." Shot at the Long Beach Terrace Theater, Cho's latest stand-up concert film, Beautiful, explores the good, bad, and downright ugly in beauty, and the unattractive politicians and marketers who shape our world.
