Movie: Dusky Grouper 'The Lord of the Reef' ( 2021 )
The narrator of the documentary Mert realizes the catastrophic human impact on coastal areas and marine ecosystems while he was working as a scuba instructor/scientist. Being attached to Kas like many others, he follows following the story around one special fish, the dusky grouper and films the very first protection efforts and the struggle given to conserve the area as a newly declared marine park. Nonetheless, Mert was a ferocious underwater hunter, who spearfished since he was seven. Yet, he realizes the effect he has on the coastal ecosystem singlehandedly. In years he was working on marine conservation and makes documentaries for protecting marine life, he witnesses the ban of fishing of the dusky grouper and the regeneration of marine life within the perimeters of the brand-new marine park. Starting in 2010, the filming spread around 10 years of history in the region. And during that time Mert encounters spectacular stories of marine inhabitants, films special animal behavior, walks together with sea loving souls who are sworn to protect this fragile ecosystem, in other terms the blue-people. This blue documentary questions the impact we as humans have on coastal ecosystems; whether we realize a life-long dream and buy a holiday house for family, construct a huge touristic facility on shore or simply like to catch fish as a hobby. Directors Statement Dusky grouper is a known and exploited inhabitant of entire Mediterranean coastal line for thousand of years. It has been subjected to various artwork and literature, considered as a symbol species for the Mediterranean Sea. The fish can get seriously large, nearly two meters long, weigh more than 60 kilograms and live 60 years. It is a prized game fish for both spear fisherman and anglers. As a result of its humongous size and because of its rich flavor, it is considered as a delicacy in coastal restaurants. Dusky grouper has endangered species status however, it is being fished heavily by small fisherman with other grouper species some of which has more critical status than the dusky grouper. In order to mitigate the impact of fishing and other human activities on marine ecosystems the use of spatial management tools such as marine protected areas (MPAs) is the most accepted tool for conservancy. One of the main strength of the MPA & SPA's is protecting the unknown overlooked species that are not economically important but quite oppositely crucial for a healthy ecosystem. Accordingly achieving sufficient amount of such zones are a must in order to protect as many species as possible. Unfortunately it is not possible to illuminate every single threatened species and describe their story in a documentary. That being said, alternatively we are selecting a species of importance that has enough affection from all sides of the story, known to inhabitants and exploiters of the entire Mediterranean Sea. And beyond all, The Mediterranean Dusky Grouper is perhaps by far the single most important species for underwater ecotourism. There are many fish named in local areas and protected by volunteers for both economical & contentment reasons. In a limited species diversity region as Mediterranean Sea, it can be easily perceptible that dusky grouper is perhaps the most desired animal for both divers and underwater photographers. Selecting this species as our subject is not a coincidence due to the well-stated reasons above. But it has another task; to explicate the problems of Mediterranean Sea, illuminating the other endangered species, emphasizing the importance and necessity of MPA's and promoting ecotourism and so we believe dusky grouper with its loveliness and communication with the human beings, is for sure the animal of the job!

He then retrieves Jerry (filed under "M" in a filing cabinet), again proving unusually competent. He does several magic tricks with Jerry, producing him in a box of chocolates and Toots' bow, and finally tucking Jerry behind him. While trapped there, Jerry grabs a hat and uses the hat pin to even the score a bit. He runs away to a record changer, and gets Tom caught up in the machinery. With Tom thoroughly defeated (and the machine thoroughly broken), Jerry primps a bit himself, kisses Toots, and sashays into his hole.

Movie: Beating Superbugs: Can We Win? ( 2021 )
BEATING SUPERBUGS: CAN WE WIN?, a feature-length documentary, presents an accessible, in-depth, true-to-fact message with a touch of mystery and suspense throughout: CAN we [Jean addition:] in fact beat superbugs? Its solutions-driven emphasis, planned as legitimate [Bill add:] optimism despite superbugs' danger, underlies even the most dire of its parts. Through dramatic first-hand victim stories, this sober yet optimistic thread becomes even more apparent in interviews with dedicated experts in science, economic, government and the pharmaceutical industry. A narrator's well-informed voice unites connecting facts with supporting visuals, including many original animations. This voice also periodically gives viewers clues about both personal habits and public efforts (government initiatives, pending legislation, independent foundations) with which they may join to participate in the superbug fight. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria, or "superbugs," share a global crisis status with COVID-19. So far, a quantity of the known patient deaths in this viral pandemic have been linked to bacterial infections. But ingenious solutions to superbugs are either in place or emerging. This searching documentary presents powerful stories and solutions through the eyes of patients, doctors, and researchers as well as leaders in economics, government, and pharmaceutical industries. Separately and together, they are developing innovative and practical new ways to fight the debilitating and often fatal effects of the superbug threat. These efforts, empowered by citizens everywhere, have a good chance to stem a dire prediction: if unchecked by mid-century, superbugs could surpass cancer as the No. 1 cause of human death worldwide.
