Murder suddenly darkens the gourmet world when Louis is found baked to death in London and suspicion falls on Natasha and her ex-husband Robby Ross, a fast-foods franchiser who is trying to convince the great chefs of Europe to lend their names to his chain of omelet shops. Max then sends Natasha to Venice to interview renowned lobster chef Fausto Zoppi for a fish course, but he, too, is found dead, drowned in his lobster tank. As they try to elude capture which in general means their first priority being to remain hidden from anyone else, they have to deal with the necessities of life, one who tends to focus on his hunger, while the other his physical pain in wearing ill-fitting shoes, which by chance he got by earlier trading the other for food just before their escape. The one focused on his hunger is prone to delusion about what he feels he needs to do to survive regardless of if he goes through with those thoughts, and about life still in his concentration camp identified coat but out and about in general society.

Unfortunately, they will run into a gang of train robbers who wait in ambush for the next train carrying gold from the nearby mines. Bobcat is killed and brothers Mike and Roy shot and left for dead near the spot where the train is ambushed. The next day, the sheriff, his posse and Southern Pacific agents find Mike and Roy laying wounded at the scene of the train robbery. It's assumed they are members of the train robbing gang. Despite their pleas, the sheriff and his men beat Mike and Roy and arrest them. Later, they are sentenced to years of hard labor at the quarry belonging to Yuma Territorial Prison. In prison, the treatment of inmates is harsh. The sadistic guards' captain intentionally targets Mike and his frail brother Roy. With increasing doubts about Roy's chances of survival and Mike's chances at a pardon, it's decided to join a select group of inmates who are planning a prison break. Mike is dreaming of escaping in order to find the real train robbers and prove his innocence. He sorely misses his wife and ranch. But escaping Yuma Prison is no easy task and finding the train robbers will prove to be almost impossible since they are protected by a corrupt lawman who's on the take.

A small group of adult bourgeois friends are on a day outing in the country, that outing which includes having a picnic. While they are going for a walk after the picnic, they encounter a group of officious looking men who commandeer them to a small clearing. Although there is no direct threat and the picnickers are not scared, they nonetheless feel the need to do what the men say. The men, led by one called Rudolph, set the rules of "the game". Ultimately, the picnickers learn that Rudolph was supposed to invite them to a party nearby. Much like the game, the party's host sets the rules for the party to which the picnickers and all the other guests must abide. Order in the eyes of the host seems to be paramount. Although the picnickers and the other guests enjoy many aspects of the party, some just do not want to be there, such thinking which cannot be tolerated.

Hercule Poirot (Sir Peter Ustinov) appears on a television talk show with actor Bryan Martin (Lee Horsley), who is making an action detective movie with Jane Wilkinson (Faye Dunaway). He also meets impressionist Carlotta Adams (Faye Dunaway). They all go to a party and Jane asks him and Captain Arthur Hastings (Jonathan Cecil) to go and meet her husband, Lord Edgware (John Barron) in regards to a divorce. They do so, to discover that the Lord had already granted her a divorce. Jane is delighted, but drops hints that she could have killed the Lord if he didn't grant her the divorce. The next day, Lord Edgware is found dead, and all of the staff at the Lord's house swear that Jane was the one who did it, but witnesses at another Lord's party swear that Jane was with them. Carlotta then dies, and Poirot must investigate, as Inspector Japp (David Suchet) is determined to put Jane away.
