Bat Masterson comes to San Francisco to help the aristocratic Mrs. Dwight Chancellor (Ernestine Barrier), a wealthy widow who befriended him in his youth, in "To the Manner Born," the season's premiere episode. Mrs. Chancellor's daughter, Abby (Audrey Dalton), is involved with a black-sheep cousin, Stuart (Jack Hogan). When the cousin is murdered for a gambling debt, Bart learns that Abby is in far greater danger from Col. Mark James (Myron Healey), who is determined to force her into marriage. Bart exposes him as a Confederate Army deserter and crook. The two men face each other in a showdown with dueling pistols. |
