Agree that the recent series have lost that episodic nature that made them so enjoyable and a show that people can just watch any random episode from any series and not need to remember a bunch of backstory. Yes there was a ‘kinda’ overarching story that was touched upon more or less in each series e.g Voyage being a trip home, DS:9 with the Dominion, Enterprise being about the first ship/crew, but it wasn’t used as a tool to detract from the actual sci fi brilliance.
ya i see that too, rather than adhering to trek episodes, much more picard like. but at the same time i thought it did really well to have so many elements cohere, cosmic entities, quantum lives, emotional nostalgic drama, story telling. i think it did well to try and predict science just as it has done for so long, i guess im referring to the more philosophical aspects of quantum, that it is at the same time relational and hierarchical.
