The novel released in June 2015, ‘I’m Jack’ is the story of John Humble, aka Wearside Jack, the composer of hoax letters and a recorded tape sent to newspapers and police in 1978/79 claiming responsibility for the murders of women in West Yorkshire. Convinced by the claims made in these documents, police shifter the based of their investigations to Sunderland in June 1979. The man actually responsible for the murders, Peter Sutcliffe, was not arrested until 1981, by which time he had killed three more women. |
