OH GALLOW LAY is about activism, human potential, and the mechanism of catharsis. In the autumn of 2011, thousands of miles from the chaos of civil war, the address of Muammar al-Gaddafi’s North American Summer Estate is unintentionally revealed during a radio broadcast, leading to scores of visitors, all agendas various. Some are benign, while others are just happy to burn the furniture. The labyrinthian house is invaded, explored, and re-appropriated. Out of the fray, a group of inexperienced activists start a black market auction, liquidating the house’s holdings to return what they can back to the people of Libya. The linear thrust of history breaks down as characters collide, shedding specific personalities and coming together as a rejuvenating and celebrating force.
