Details:

Holding Fast is a visual essay about the Tibetan refugee camp in Darjeeling, India. In early 2007 composer Randall Woolf approached John C. Walsh and Mary Harron about doing a short film together. Walsh and Harron suggested as a subject this Tibetan Refugee Camp which they had visited and found captivating. The filmmakers spent about a week filming in the camp. The income of the Tibetan people there comes mostly from the carpets they make, which take two women over three weeks to weave by hand. These are then sold to tourists along with other crafts.
