Historical documentary about Miss Fancy, ‘The Queen of the Avondale Zoo’ from 1913 to 1934; and her handler, Mr. John Todd. Miss Fancy was the first animal in the Avondale Zoo, precursor to the Birmingham Zoo. Miss Fancy and Mr. Todd are remembered for their love of alcohol and misbehavior. Interviews with local historians as well as locals who remember Miss Fancy are woven into a delightful, short documentary piece about a Birmingham legend. |
