Set in the 1960s, ‘Virginity’ is based on a short story by the famous Polish/Argentinian writer Witold Gombrowicz. Joseph is obsessed with virginity, and by extension, his naive and strange girlfriend Mary. In order to deserve Mary’s affection, Joseph feels he must better understand the nature of her virginal charms. But when Mary asks Joseph to eat a bone from the garbage, he realizes her unique charms derive from a place closer to savagery than to heaven. |
