In an economically and socially collapsed world, two young women find an ingenious way to make money and forge a friendship. Huggy, an Affection Industry worker, earns money by listening empathetically to her distraught customers and offering them the solace of femininity. Eve, Huggy’s roommate, is a Pain Industry worker. She is paid by the hour to torture and humiliate her clients. Huggy and Eve conduct business in the same apartment, often at the same time, and strike a fragile balance living and working together. As the two friends become more aware of their dependence on each other, they must face their completely different attitudes towards life. Their relationship reaches a crisis and are they are forced to choose between love and destruction. |
